Southridge would be a huge mistake. It is impossible to compete with the "I only eat it if it advertises on my TV" crowd that fills the olive garden parking lot day after day. Downtown is the perfect place for pies and pints. You are across the street from a parking lot and a garage, so I'm not sure I understand the parking comments. As for safety, the only thing in danger with pies and pints coming to town is my waistline.

Downtown Charleston could not be safer, and in my opinon, has a good parking situation. Sometimes, you have to walk a block or two - but in such a quaint and pleasant little town as Charleston, who could possibly complain about that? Southridge? Malls? No thank you. Way to go, Pies, in your choice of a totally awesome and happening local spot to open up in. If it keeps away a few mall rats and big box shoppers, then all the more pizza for us to enjoy! We are impatiently awaiting your arrival... :)

Ruth,

The Charleston Police never stated to avoid downtown. This is a complete lie. Yes, there were attacks from a local gang of (3) individuals, but this has been taken care of.

Every city you visit will have this off & on not matter where you travel. What about the police patrols in Southridge for vehicle break-ins? This is the nature of the beast no matter where you live.

Downtown has plenty of parking and anyone that complains just does not want to walk a block or two. Charleston has a mindset that if they are not able to park "right in front" of there destination that they will go somewhere else. WV needs to walk a few blocks, we could use the exercise :)

And as for the Blvd. It has been closed for months now and there has been no traffic problems. Many who frequent downtown are wanting it to stay closed. What a wonderful addition it would be to the levee to have a walking area for downtown business and leisure 12 months a year.

And the reason nothing is open downtown is because a business needs traffic. Again, build it and they will come.

Hats off Pies & Pints. You will see that the positives will surely out weigh the negatives.

The Gauchers are VERY excited about your pending arrival! In the meantime, we are coming over to Fayetteville this summer because we cannot wait until fall to get down with your pies and beer! See you soon.....and thanks for the update. And I agree that there is a cultural issue here connected to what you do, and the best place for P and P is Capitol Street. We will be there, early and often, in the fall.

Love that you are coming into the "Charleston" area. But also agree with Val on the lack of parking in Charleston, the recent attacks on people, even a warning from the local police to avoid downtown. Also, Southridge did not close down Charleston, it started with the mall. There is nothing to do in Charleston, and when there is, such as Festivall, the car show, etc, the boulevard is closed, the streets are usually closed, and you do not have easy access to anything. Maybe Danny Jones needs to go to some other cities on the same scale or even smaller than Charleston to see how a city can be prosperous, safe, and enjoyable to visit. While Taylor Books, Ellens Ice Cream and nice places, that is about it for downtown Charleston. Pies and Pints while we always enjoy coming to Fayetteville, I really wished you had looked into maybe even Kanawha City. But, will continue to visit, but would rather drive to Fayetteville than 10 minutes to downtown Charleston. Good Luck

Southridge? Seriously? wow.

We live in the East End and are very glad to see a welcome addition to Capitol St. Pies & Pints will compliment Ellen's & Taylor's nicely!

We'll patiently await your arrival!

I've never been to Pies and Pints in Fayetteville but I just checked out your menu and it looks great! I work downtown and it will be wonderful to have another place for lunch and it is a perfect spot on Capital Street. I always dread going out to Southridge and rarely do it. You will get alot of lunchtime traffic, just hope it's not TOO busy that we can't get in and enjoy the pies! Welcome to Charleston and take your time!

Thank you so much for choosing one of the coolest places in downtown Charleston to open your second location. Anyone would be a fool to think Southridge would be a good spot for this restaurant. The good news is, I doubt P&P ever even considered any other place than downtown, except for maybe the East End, which would have been just as great. Don't believe the hype, you are just as safe downtown than anywhere else.

I'm with so many others on the Southridge comment. I dread any time I have to fight the traffic any further than Trace Fork. I live close to downtown and my guy and I love going in town and walking around. Pies and Pints is going to be an amazing addition to the city of Charleston and they couldn't have picked a better location! Sorry Val, you are wrong.
